What We Think
Slightly darkish with a smooth midrange response, the ICIS is another winner from the sE Electronics line. Put it where you don't want that tizzy high frequency condenser mic sound...guitar cabs, many vocals, strings, etc. Definitely does its own thing to your sound and does it well.

I bought one of these SE Icis tube mics from Front End Audio about a year ago and have used it exclusively for recording vocals in my project studio ever since. I chose it from among half a dozen or more other similarly-priced mics that the guys at Front End Audio kindly let me try out in the studio there at Front End. The SE Icis proved to have the smoothest sound, a warm tone, and worked well with my voice. (You can hear the results in my case with any of the songs on the "Family Friendly Radio" EP at myspace.com/thecranesareflyingband). I would definitely recommend the Icis to anyone looking for a vocal studio mic in this price range.
