Description
Universal Audio 2-1176 Details With the Universal Audio 2-1176 we finally have a true stereo 1176! With over thousands of units already sold to date since the year 2000 re-birth of Universal Audio’s 1176LN, it is clear the public’s love affair with the legendary sound of the 1176 is still as passionate as ever.
The 2-1176 builds from the circuit design of UA’s hugely successful 6176 Channel Strip and combines two 1176 channels from that unit-- an uncompromising design, with all the same components- stereo matched to boot!
With the release of the 2-1176, we once again put that sound into your rack but with twice the tone, twice the character and twice the compression-- at an unbelievable price, and half the space. As you would expect from UA, it also retains all the features and trademark sound of its ancestor, and switches easily between dual mono and stereo link.

What We Think
"I mean, seriously... do you really need to think about this? A two-channel 1176 with stereo-linking already built in? Your drum bus will thank you. So will your guitars. So will your bass. So will... whatever. While it doesn't have that trademark and instantly recognizable black-faceplate, all the sound of the UA 1176LN is definitely present and in less space and for less bread out of your pocket. One of the things that I really like about this particular design is that the ratio and meter selection push-buttons aren't there. Having worked as a tech who repaired and rebuilt original Urei units, one problem was the push-button assembly when engineers had gone for the ALL setting. You have to get your fingers on all the buttons just so and if you don't then you're just mucking up the whole assembly. With the 2-1176 (and 6176), you don't have to worry about this. The selector dial has an ALL setting on it. It's a very simple and non-damaging way to implement this feature."
