The Soyuz Microphones 017 FET Microphone delivers sound as rich, warm, and beautiful as its handcrafted, polished design suggests. Swappable capsules make this high performance microphone at home in a wide range of critical recording applications, from vocals to orchestral instruments.

The Soyuz Microphones 017 FET Microphone shares the SU-017's cardioid capsule, featuring a gold-sputtered, hand-tuned one-inch diaphragm. An omni-directional capsule is currently available, with additional patterns in development. As with all Soyuz microphones, the SU-019 is completely handmade: bodies and capsules are manually machined, transformers are wound in-house, and all wiring is true point-to-point. The Soyuz Microphones 017 FET Microphone features a carefully designed, low-noise Field Effect Transistor topography and the rich sound of custom in-house created and crafted toroidal transformers.

In addition to excelling at recording vocals and orchestral instruments, the SU-017 FET has proven to be flexible –with the included screw on -10dB pad, ideal for recording such difficult to capture high-decibel sources as kick drums and guitar and bass amplifiers. The 017 FET employs the same handmade capsule as the SU-017, a proprietary toroidal transformer, and a completely original circuit design. These elements work together to deliver a tonal character that is as rich and detailed as it's tube brother's, but with the slightly faster transient response characteristic of a FET microphone.

    Immaculate sound and build
    Nate S

This microphone is impressive from the moment you open the package. The handmade box is a great touch, and the microphone is the best constructed and most substantial I've ever held. I've been using this primarily on rap vocals and it's a great match. I was impressed off the bat, but the 017 FET continues to grow on me. It provides a great contrast to my brighter mics.

    Soyuz Microphones SU-19 Microphone
    Mike Clemens

I purchased the Soyuz SU-019 microphone from Front End Audio and first of all I need to say how great the communication and customer service is from Front End Audio. I've never had anything but a great experience from this group of people. Now, on to the mic. I also have the higher end Soyuz SU-017 and have done a comparison between them recently. The SU-017 has an addictive silky sound on vocals but the SU-019 is stellar in its own right and matches up very well against its more expensive sibling. I really like the SU-019 of male vocals on recordings that are a little more rock n roll. It has a crisp attack and a very full sound similar to the SU-017 but not quite and rounded and silky. Both mics are winners and you can't go wrong with either one. Both will be staying in my mic collection for a long time.
