The XLogic Alpha-Link range is a family of fully featured multi-channel Audio Converters for Studio, Live and Broadcast Applications. They offer bi-directional audio conversion between our high quality AD/DA converter circuitry and either MADI Optical, AES or ADAT Optical digital connections.

All Alpha-Link units can be used as standalone format converters, but used in combination with an SSL MADI Xtreme PCI card they provide a powerful, highly flexible I/O solution for audio software systems running on standard Mac or PC computers.

Professional MADI to AES / EBU & AD DA Converter
Featuring up to 64 channels of digital MADI I/O at 48kHz (or 32 channels at 96kHz), 12 stereo AES/EBU digital I/O, 24 analogue I/O and much more, the Alpha link MADI SX delivers a dependable, versatile, high quality I/O or audio format conversion solution.

Does the job just nicely November 22, 2015

I picked up an SSL Madi SX and Madixtreme 64 for quite cheap and it is a great piece of kit. I really prefer it over the Lynx Aurora 16 that it replaced, and the fact that it is cheaper and has 24 ins and outs is an absolute bonus! My one gripe is with the Madixtreme card. It works fine, but is really basic compared to the competition. The software panel has only a few options and details, and there is no software mixer like most other interfaces in this day and age. SSL are also quite slow at driver development, and I still haven't figured out how to get it to run under Windows via boot camp. When cash permits, I may consider moving to an RME madi card to use with the Alphalink SX as their support and drivers seem to be much, much better.

I would recommend giving this setup a spin before you purchase. It took some messing around, but once I got everything up and running it is fine and very, very stable.
