The convenience of mixing in the box is unquestionable, and I didn't want to loose that. The sonic benefits of running audio through actual cables and wires is a no brainer as well. It's not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of physics. Enter the PM-8. On the rear panel you have 8 inputs (XLR/TRS combo) and 3 stereo outs; 1 of which is passive. On the front of the unit are large knobs, lots of large knobs. (I like) The top row of (8) knobs are for individual pan of each channel. The bottom row is your fader which controls level. Passive units don't allow for make-up, all they do is deduct; such is the case with the PM-8. If you use the passive stereo output, like me, then you need 2 channels of mic preamp gain to make up for the roughly 35db loss in gain. As a result of using the PM-8, my mixes have deeper bass, a better stereo image and the highs aren't as harsh. Great buy if you have an interface with multiple outputs.
