I wasn't really sure what to expect of this mike, since I hadn't tried any Rode gear before, but this mike definitely gets my thumbs up. I use the "matched pair" variant for the drum overheads, and most of the comments I get from drummers I record are "you made my cymbals sound like Sabians". Which is a very good thing indeed - everyone loves those expensive bright cymbals.
I've also used them on female vocals, which is what this mike does very, very good. I've tried it with more than a dozen, and it never fails to make the vocalists in question sound big and present.
Be warned, however, this mike is hot! It's got a healthy output but at the same time very low noise floor. There are some things I couldn't get it to do well, however, like certain male vocals that had this certain harsheness, no matter how you attempt to EQ it out - it always, however, happened with aggressive singers and never with a female vocalist.
