PreSonus V-Fire RBUS to FireWire Recording System Details

The Presonus V-Fire RBUS to FireWire Recording System is a 24-bit/96k R-BUS to FireWire computer recording system for both Windows XP and Macintosh computer systems. The V-Fire allows the user to convert Roland’s R-BUS digital audio format to FireWire (IEEE 1394), thus providing a multi-channel computer interface for Roland products equipped with R-BUS output. The V-Fire features two R-BUS ports and two FireWire ports allowing sixteen channels of digital audio to stream at up to 24-bit 96K sample rate. TheV-Fire is also equipped with R-BUS 1, R-BUS 2 and master sync LED indicators. V-Fire also comes with a software control panel enabling the user to select the sample rate (44.1K, 48K, 88.2K, and 96K), latency, buffer size and clock source.

Special Note

The Presonus V-Fire RBUS to FireWire Recording System has been an "officially discontinued product" for a little while now. Front End Audio has "New Old Stock" Presonus V-Fire units for users of Roland R-Bus equipped devices on Legacy Systems. This is a LEGACY device with LEGACY drivers for use with LEGACY operating systems. Please read the system requirements before ordering. Thanks!

Presonus V-Fire saves the day! March 15, 2013

Not everyone uses a computer based DAW! In my studio I use two Roland VSR-880 hard disk recorders linked to form a 16-track system. The old Roland R-BUS connector is obsolete so the problem was back-up of multitrack files to computer. Front End Audio amazingly had a new (and equally obsolete) V-Fire that converts R-BUS to Firewire. It works fine but you need a very deep understanding of MIDI and other concepts to make it work! Thanks to Front End Audio for their speedy service.

should have done some more research first December 18, 2010

Turns out that the Presonus V-Fire doesn't work with Mac OS Leopard or above. Presonus no longer supports it and there are no driver upgrades available. Useless.
