| McDSP Channel G HD Details
Channel G delivers the big board sound with unprecedented flexibility.
Channel G is four plug-ins:
- G Dynamics– a fully featured console style dynamics section with an Expander / Gate, Compressor / Limiter, and a versatile filter section
- G Equalizer– a five-band professional grade console style EQ with a versatile filter section
- G Console– a combination of the G Dynamics and G Equalizer configurations
-
G Surround Compressor– an elegant Compressor / Limiter solution with compressor ‘sets’ (LR, C, LsRs, LFE)
All Channel G configurations feature calibration modes for music, post production, and models of the world’s most popular analog mixing desks. The Channel G interfaces seamlessly integrate with the Digidesign D-Control and D-Command control surfaces.
The Channel G Surround Compressor / Limiter operates on 5.1 channels using 4 compressors sets – LR, C, LsRs, and LFE. These compressor sets can key from any combination of the LR, C, LsRs, and LFE channels. Individual compressor controls can be linked across various surround channels, and the LFE channel includes an optional low pass filter.

What We Think
"Channel G continues to surprise me with it's usefulness in regards to being a total channel strip solution. Aside from the excellent Expander/Gate section, one of my favortite features is the Input Filter section which allows you to pre-filter the sound before gating or compressing (the EQ section defaults to post dynamics). You can also use the Input Filter in conjunction with the Expander/Gate to really help focus in on a specific frequency range - this is excellent for gating toms where there is a lot of ambient bleed. You can also tie it in with the Compressor/Limiter to trigger off of a specific frequency range. Really, this is scratching the surface of all the key, side-chain, and equalizer flexibility offered by this indispensable plug-in. If you're working within any flavor of ProTools (including VENUE!) and you are serious about having great eq and dynamics processing, this is the plug-in to have."
