Great for a first monitor! December 25, 2010
Reviewer: Al
These guys are surprisingly - Great! I got a pair of these two year's ago and love their sound. When testing these in store I tried them against everything in there price range (BX5a, KRK, and more that I cannot remember, but not the new JBLs) and they were by far the best overall sound. It actually has bass proportional to its highs (also has bass and treble 3 position EQs). In this price range its hard to find a set of well balanced speakers, most lack bass, and the few with enough have thin or harsh highs. The best part is the high quality soft-dome tweeter, and solid cabinet.
BUT THEY BLOW OUT! I do not know why but I have had two monitors die on me. On one the amp just quit out, and on the other the Low freq. died (suspected bad voice-coil) and the high freq. amp burnt-out. I would say that if you do decide to get these; get a (in all other situations rip off extra warranty) good deal extra warranty.
