M-Audio Axiom 61 Details
M-Audio's new Axiom 61 is part of the more advanced Axiom line of MIDI controllers. Built around an even more rugged chassis, the Axiom 61 includes 61 semi-weighted velocity-sensitive keys with assignable aftertouch, eight MIDI trigger pads, six reassignable transport buttons, 20 non-volatile memory locations and more.

Semi-weighted keys with velocity and aftertouch, plus pads
If you need total MIDI control and playability in a compact package, check out the Axiom 61. This advanced 61-key USB mobile MIDI controller delivers semi-weighted action plus assignable aftertouch, and eight rubberized trigger pads that put drum programming and performance at your fingertips.

Assignable knobs and transport controls
Eight endless rotary encoder knobs let you get your hands on synth parameters, virtual mixer controls and more. Nine assignable sliders make fader control possible. Six transport controls can also assign to control other MIDI parameters. Virtually everything is freely MIDI-assignable - and the backlit LCD screen makes programming easy and intuitive. You get 20 memory locations for onboard storage.

Includes Live Lite 4 and Enigma editing software
The Axiom 61 helps you get started making music right away by including a copy of Ableton Live Lite 4. This music production solution allows you to spontaneously compose, record, remix, improvise, and edit your musical ideas. Live brings acoustic, electronic and virtual instruments, as well as your digital audio recordings, together in a single interface with unparalleled ease of use. In the end, Live lets you focus on what really matters: your music. In addition, the Axiom 61 includes free Enigma editor/librarian software to manage an unlimited number of setups via computer.

If you have ever wondered why softsynths were so slow to edit, or why cubase was messy to get around in, you don't own an Axiom.
This is the fattest deal in keyboards - smooth controllers, elegent design, good fit with Cubase and Native Instruments products, and loads of tricks up it's sleeves.
The action is perfect for synths, and I'm fine with it for piano too. If you already have years of real piano, this is not the keyboard for you. The action is very light, and non fatigueing, but you will put your fist through it trying to play like it was fully weighted.
The trigger pads are great with taiko drum samples and other things that need to get hit hard.
Get a stand, it's big, though not heavy, only around 22 pounds, but it's almost as large as my dear departed Roland XP30.
The things you can make your software do with the Axiom are many and usefull. It way outperforms the Keystation range, and my Roland as a controller. And the big keys are much more fun than those two as well.
