The Jimi Hendrix Rig
Hendrix’s sound is a unique mix of high volume, feedback control and a exclusive, personal usage of guitar effects which was a breakthrough for its time. By then Hendrix was one of the first guitarists to experiment with the full expressive possibilities of electronic effects, which were a fundamental part of his sound. Electronic effects were a technological novelty in the 60’s with semiconductor electronics in its infancy and the very first commercially available germanium transistors introduced in the mid 50’s gradually replacing tubes in the next two decades.
IK has gone the extra mile in accurately modeling all the most important components of the Hendrix rig not only using proprietary AmpliTube 2 DSM™ (Dynamic Saturation Modeling) technology at its best, but collecting all the original vintage stomps, amplifiers and cabinets and fine tuning the software emulations by ear with accurate craftmanship to achieve incredibly realistic modeling results. A sound that will bring you back to the Woodstock era.
AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix offers the same 2 series/parallel rig structure of AmpliTube 2 and ensures a complete and flexible rig structure that can be used not only to recreate the authentic tones of popular Hendrix tunes but since the modeled gear in this product is in such high demand by guitarists, AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix is a fantastic tool for many styles of modern rock music from hard rock to punk, alternative, progressive and pop.

What We Think
"AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix has really impressed me in regards to the level of sonic accuracy exhibited by the amplifiers, effects, cabinets, outboard gear, and even the microphones that IK Multimedia has modeled for this collection.
One of the features that will make many a guitar playing Hendrix-fan happy is that the presets are based upon the separate layered parts within a lot of different songs. So, if you ever wanted to rebuild one of Hendrix's songs from the ground up, you have the guitar tones covered. Plus, it can be a better way to get a point of reference than typical presets. Being an enormous snob for guitar tone, I really do like how these amps and effects sound. Seriously, the UniVibe is one of the coolest sounding effects ever made and it's represented extremely well in this collection. The wide array of fuzz boxes gives you tons of control over getting the right type of fuzz and just the right amount.
For the guitarist who wants to take these tones to a gig or even integrate AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix with, say, AmpliTube 2, IK has developed X-Gear, a software shell-host that lets you open, in stand-alone and plug-in mode, any current "Powered by AmpliTube" product (AmpliTube 2, AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix, Ampeg SVX, AmpliTube Metal) into a single interface with full mixing and matching between each amplifier, effect, microphone, and cabinet, plus the ability to control them live and in the studio with the StompIO or any traditional MIDI controller.
Having had experience at one time or another with each one of the amplifiers and microphones modeled, I can honestly say that IK Multimedia has really nailed their individual tones and characters. Most importantly, this plug-in is INSPIRING! Seriously, it's one of those new additions to my DAW that has had me glued to my guitar for hours on end just enjoying coming up with new songs and riffs.
