Earthworks' 1024 four-channel mic preamp is built to what Earthworks calls a new standard of accuracy which accomplishes "perceptual perfection." According to Blackmer, original founder of dbx Professional, and founder and president of Earthworks, Inc. "the 1024 is perfect". The sum of all forms of distortion is under 1ppm or 0.0001 %. It delivers ruler flat frequency response from 2Hz to 100kHz with an Equivalent Input Noise spec which equals the 140dB capability of 24 bit digital. And it has the 10volt rms nominal output necessary for usage.
The 1024, like all of Earthworks' preamps, reflects the same design priorities, flat and extended frequency response with fast clean impulse performance. Gain is precision controlled by stepped gain switches, as well as allowing variable control of gain to a separate output. There are no pads and no filters. The idea is to capture all of the sound. Earthworks preamps add nothing but gain.
