Chameleon Labs TS2 Microphone Details

The Chameleon Labs TS-2 is a unique multi-pattern large diaphragm tube condenser microphone. The accompanying power supply features adjustable filament voltage to give you control over your tone. Adjustment of the HEATER VOLTAGE control will allow custom tailoring of the microphone to your exact requirements. A precision meter allows you to easily replicate a customized sonic setting. The TS-2 also featuresa continuously variable pattern selector on the mic body. This allows you to alter the polar pickup pattern of the microphone from omni-directional thru cardioid to figure eight. This allows adjustment of pick up field to your environment instead of the microphone dictating your microphone placement.

Chameleon Labs TS2 Microphone Applications

The TS-2 performs exceptionally well as a warm vocal microphone, providing the detail necessary when recording the human voice. It is equally precise when recording guitar and bass cabinets.

The TS-2’s continuously variable pattern selector enables you to alter the polar pattern of the microphone from omni, through cardioid, to figure eight. This added functionality allows for smooth adjustment of pick up field to your environment instead of the microphone dictating your microphone placement.

Chameleon Labs TS2 Microphone Features

Reminiscent of an enduring classic tube microphone, the TS-2 utilizes a 12AT7 vacuum tube to bring unsurpassed detail and depth to your recordings. The adjustable Heater Voltage control customizes the tube to allow tailoring of the microphone to your tonal requirements. A precision voltage meter provides repeatability.

A specially designed, high-quality output transformer delivers an isolated, balanced output signal, minimizing the possibility of unwanted noise entering the preamplifier. A switchable pad at either 10dB or 20dB provides gain control.

great quality low cost June 28, 2010
Reviewer: James Tisdall from Philadelphia, PA United States
I have a small home studio, and I mainly record guitars. A friend recommended this mic as a great value, low cost and with a quality rivaling better known, twice-as-expensive mics. I've used it to record two cd projects, acoustic and electric guitars.  The (famous) mixer and master both praised the recording - and asked what the mic was that I used.  I used this in conjunction with the TS1.

First Tube - Really good on Male Vox January 14, 2010
Reviewer: Stephen Lawson from Minneapolis, MN United States
I got this mic because the AEA ribbon I purchased did not shine on my voice - this mic is exactly what I hoped it would be. The vox stand proud in the mix now and it imparts a very good presence overall. The build quality is good and the mic is solid. The shock mount is a bit light weight for such a heavy mic though. For the price it is a very good deal.
