Blue Microphones Spark Condenser Microphone Details

Spark is a cardioid, solid-state condenser microphone, with high-quality, fully discrete components and an innovative Focus control offering two sonic signatures. Along with its striking design and ability to capture a wide range of recording situations, Spark also comes with a custom shockmount and pop filter in a professional wooden case.

Spark features Blueâ??s premium condenser capsule, delivering low noise, high efficiency, and rapid response in any recording situation. Out of the box, the sonic signature of Spark is crisp and powerful with an enhanced low end. To achieve a more present sound, Blue introduces the Focus control, which when selected results in a tighter, more direct and focused sound. Spark utilizes custom-matched circuitry with the same professional-quality, Class-A discrete components found in Blueâ??s extensive line of professional microphones. The circuit design also pairs Sparkâ??s condenser capsule with a phantom-powered outboard amplifier to drive the capsule with linear control and accuracy. To complete the experience, Spark comes inside a high-quality wooden box, with a custom shockmount and metal pop filter. This all-inclusive professional microphone package also provides a detailed recording guide showing complete setup and recording tips for a variety of instruments and vocal sounds. Spark review March 13, 2012
Reviewer: Ben from Medford Lakes, NJ United States
The Spark is a very cool looking mic and comes with nice accessories and good instructions on mic techniques. I didn't use the wind screen as I just used it to record sax.  The shockmount has a nice screw mechanism to secure it, however once tightened the mic freely rotates. I guess this is good for turning it to the sound source but to me it moves a little to freely and would be afraid it were to move during recording, especially if it was tilted or angled.  The sound quality is brighter than advertised, but is very smooth in the high end and not shrill at all.  It is a very quiet mic, but doesn't seem to give you a big sound.  It's a great deal with everything included, but If you can pass on the mic looks and don't want or need the accessories, I'd say go with an AT2020 or get a pair for the same price as the Spark.

Blue Spark February 7, 2011

This mic has really suprised me with the bang for the buck. For the entry line for Blue it sounds and performs like a $1000 mic. Used for vocals and acoustic guitar. So glad I added this to the line up.
