Avid Pro Tools HD Native Thunderbolt 16x16 System Details
The Avid Pro Tools HD Native Thunderbolt 16x16 System includes a Pro Tools HD Native Thunderbolt interface, an HD I/O 16x16 Analog Interface, and the Pro Tools HD software. ProTools|HD Native is a new generation of Pro Tools|HD system that enables you to compose, record, edit, and mix music and/or sound for pictureâ?"with great speed and ease. Consisting of an HD Native Thunderbolt interface \, Pro Tools HD software, and Pro Tools HD Series interface, Pro Tools|HD Native harnesses the power of your Mac or PC to deliver pristine sound, incredible performance, and the lowest latency of any host-based DAW.
Unlike USB- or FireWire-based DAWs, which are inherently prone to latency, this particular Pro Tools|HD Native setup employs a high-speed Thunderbolt interface to connect Pro Tools HD Series interfaces with your laptop or desktop computer. By eliminating distracting monitor latency while recording, increasing your I/O capabilities, and providing 64-bit floating-point processing for more headroom and a higher mix resolution, you get a professional native solution that meets the highest audio standards.
Award-winning Pro Tools software has been the industry-standard digital audio production platform for years. The software tightly integrates your HD Native hardware and computer together as one, delivering exceptional performance and reliabilityâ?"even with large mixes. And it comes with all the tools, advanced workflows, virtual instruments, and plug-ins you need to compose, record, edit, and mix music and/or sound for picture.
For projects that demand the utmost in sound quality and performance, Pro Tools HD software enables you to compose, record, edit, and mix big productions quickly and easily. The software comes with Pro Tools|HDX and Pro Tools|HD Native systems only. Whatâ??s more, you get all of the same benefits of Pro Tools 11 software along with several additional features and workflows.
Whether you work with music or sound for picture, HD I/O gives you professional - grade audio quality, high performance conversion, and the flexibility to integrate with a variety analog and digital gear, so you can quickly adapt the interface to meet whatever need comes your way. The HD I/O 16x16 Analog is the ideal choice for music productionsâ?"get the maximum complement of analog inputs and outputs (can be customized by replacing a card, but not expanded).

What We Think
"The Avid Pro Tools HD Native Thunderbolt 16x16 System forms the core makings of a recording engineer's dream-machine DAW when it comes to recording, editing and mixing bands or larger ensembles. HD Native is so much more than simply giving you connectivity with Avid's HD interfaces. The HD Native processing card handles ALL of the audio engine calculations required for running Pro Tools HD. This is the fundamental difference between a standard 'native' version of Pro Tools and Pro Tools HD Native - and a difference that is extremely significant in how it translates to horsepower and agility of the system. To make it simple, there are millions of calculations that have to take place when creating Aux mixes (effects and headphone monitor sends), Sub Groups on Aux Channels and Master Faders, and so forth. By dedicating a card to quickly and easily handling these functions, it frees up your computer's CPU to handle the OS and plugin processing. Plus, your system latency drops significantly to provide performance that feels more like working with a tape machine. And with 64-Bit computing, the ability for your machine to host up to 32GB of RAM essentially takes the need for dedicated processing cards (like HD Accel and even HDX) off the table for music production (and the more expensive versions of plug-in packages, too). And if you feel like you want to do some hardware based processing for even faster processing times, there are options available from Waves and Universal Audio. All in all, the cost of getting into a professional Pro Tools HD system has come down and if you've been struggling with latencies and processing issues, the time is ripe for getting into HD Native. Give us a call at 888-228-4530 and let us put our extensive knowledge and experience to work to configure your Pro Tools HD Native studio into a fully integrated 'instrument' that will make your life easier and turn out better quality productions."
