Avenson STO-2 mics |

I was truly blown away by the quality of these mics. I don't often use omnis, but these are truly everything that was described about them by both by the manufacturer and by the users who have posted online. I made my decision to purchase them based on the rave reviews. I have also used DPA's and these come pretty close for a lot less $.

Not bad, but not Earthworks mics |

I got these thinking what a bargain these are, compared to the way more expensive Earthworks omni mics. Well, I can tell you now that you definitely get what you pay for...The Avensons aren't bad, but they don't produce the kind of special, open and present sound that (IMHO) Earthworks omnis produce. Pluse, they're definitely noisier, so use a good pre.

I use these with a Jecklin disk for recording oevrall room sound and they work great.
