The Audix SCX25A Microphone features a uniquely shock-mounted capsule within an intricate machined brass ring, and is completely isolated from the mic body and electronics. The SCX25-A is consistent when responding to on and off-axis signals. This mic exhibits outstanding phase coherence and minimal proximity effect. With a wide cardioid polar pattern, the Audix SCX25A enables the sound engineer to blend the sound of the instrument or vocal with the sound of the room. A very natural sound
May 1st 2011I'm fortunate enough to have many great mics in my closet--ribbons, cardiods, dynamics, hybrids. But I must say, the SCX25 sounds different than ANY of them--and I don't mean that in a bad way. Rencenty, I was auditioning mics for a voiceover segment of an instructional video I was working on. I wanted to try to match a certain full, open sound that the source-recorded sound had. Interestingly, in my studio, the same mic that I'd used to record the source sound just didn't sound right. And neither did ANY of the other mics I tried, except the Audix. It had some magic the others lacked. This isn't to say that it's right for everything. But if you're looking for a mic with a pleasant, well balanced, open and unique sound, try auditioning this medium-priced Audix mic.
