    AKG C3000B Details

The earlier model AKG C3000B has had a large fan club in the project studio and home recording worlds for years. For the new AKG C3000B, AKG designed a special 1-inch large-diaphragm transducer that closely approximates the vibration performance of top-class studio microphones, but can be made at much lower cost. Due to its surface area and special capsule tuning, the AKG C3000B large-diaphragm transducer produces an exceptionally pleasing, smooth sound. Unlike in the AKG C3000B, the switchable 10-dB preattenuation pad immediately follows the transducer in the signal path, thus increasing the AKG C3000B's SPL capability by a true 10 dB. Loud sound sources are therefore no problem. An acoustically optimized cardioid polar pattern makes the AKG C3000B an excellent choice for both recording and live sound applications where high gain before feedback is paramount.

great on acoustic guitars January 12, 2010
Reviewer: Niv Golan from Tel Aviv Israel
I have this mic for 8 years now and being my 1st condenser mic Ive used it for almost everything. It is great on some vocals like bass deep ones but less on some kind of female vocs. It can come out with some really surprising results when recording acoustic guitars. Try just to plug it in and it works pretty fine. Since its a versatile LDC I used to use it for percussions as well which resulted in nice kind of bright tracks. I tried once recording with it a Baritone horn & it came out poor since it lacked capturing the depth coming out of that horn and it was impossible to put it in a close position since it peaked quickly which doesnt happen With vocs though. When recording a group rehearsal incl percussions guitars and Accordion the results were very good as it captured the room ambience in a very realistic and flattering way. It can be sometimes harsh but it really depends on the source positioning and the Preamp. If youre looking for a mid to low budget LDC I would recommend it
