The ADK TC Custom Shop Class A Fixed-Cardioid Tube (Valve) Condenser Microphone features your choice of capsule from the ADK Custom Shop "Capsule-Bank". Based on ADK's original TC chassis, the Custom Shop version of the TC is a totally customized microphone that can be built "One-Off" for each client based on one's preference for Historical, Vintage Curves - Microphone Response Characteristics.

ADK Custom Shop TC 12-Au

The GK12 Capsule is Brilliant, yet Smoother than the Original TC.

ADK Custom Shop TC 67-Au

The GK67 Capsule offers 3dB lower Self-Noise (3dB more Head-Room). 60's vibe w/ Slightly Mellow Tone.

ADK Custom Shop TC 47-Au

The GK47 Capsule has medium mids and softer tops. An excellent choice for an All-Around microphone.

ADK Custom Shop TC 251-Au

The GK251 Capsule is sweeter, top and bottom. Just the right "smile".

ADK Custom Shop TC 49-Au

The GK49 capsule features a very smooth, dark top, but a full mid and bottom end. Great for getting that extremely vintage vibe on would-be harsh sources. Perfect for strings.

"Absolutely killer microphones for your money - the ADK Custom Shop TC gives you your choice of capsule voicing so you can match it to your needs. Though it is ADK's most affordable of their Class-A Valve Custom Shop offerings, it's no slouch - and it includes a full bevy of top-flight accessories, including Accusound cables! There is nothing not to like about these microphones. And if you're looking for a matched pair for drum overheads (a really good idea, by the way), just let us know and we can make it happen for you."

Best Mic Ever! September 21, 2012

I just received my TC-AU-251 from Front End Audio last night.

First off, I was amazed by the shear amount of accessories that were included (and teh beautiful case). First Class!

Second, I set it up, and plugged it straight into my Presonus 16.4.2 board (No fancy preamps to help it).

I was a little dissapointed at first sing... but a couple minutes later (like 20), the tube warmed up, and then WOW!.

I shut off all my typical eqs, compressors, and reverbs. The basic mic signal from this unit was the best I've ever heard (even better than the U87 through an Avalon 737 I just recorded my last album with). My voice just sounded perfect.

If you want a truely GREAT mic at a reasonable price, the TC-au251 is IT.
