ADK Custom Shop Custom TC Tube Microphone

The ADK Custom TC Tube Microphone is, hands down, the best sounding tube microphone you'll find in it's price class - or even for twice as much - period. The Custom TC is an affordable tube mic for when you want the classic, delicious vintage sound, but don’t need the refinement, premium components, customization or quality finishing of ADK's flagship microphone: the Z-MOD.

The ADK Custom Shop Custom TC Class A Fixed-Cardioid Tube (Valve) Condenser Microphone features your choice of capsule from the ADK Custom Shop "Capsule-Bank".

Based on ADK’s original TC chassis, this Custom Shop version of the TC is a customized microphone that references the familiar, predictable curves of Classic Microphones, yet features the Lower Self-Noise, Higher SPL handling that ADK's microphones are known for - All at an amazing price!

ADK Custom Shop TC 251
This Custom Capsule is has an air-band boost that is perfect on breathy female vocalists, full bodied sources, nylon guitars and more. Sweet Sound, top and bottom. Just the right “smile”.

ADK Custom Shop TC 12
This Custom Capsule is designed to put the source ‘front-of-the-mix’. Perfect for a great Rock or Pop Singer, the vocal is very forward to accommodate dense backing tracks – Metal to Hip Hop.

ADK Custom Shop TC 67
This Capsule has a 60’s Vibe with Slightly Mellow Tone. While it blooms in the mid-range, the upper frequencies are tailored, making it a very forgiving microphone fitting a variety of sources.

ADK Custom Shop TC 47
The GK47 Capsule has medium mids and softer tops. An excellent choice for an All-Around microphone, it is slightly more forward than an original 47, but smoother than a modern one.

ADK Custom Shop TC 49
This Custom Capsule features a very smooth, dark top, but a full mid and bottom end. Great for getting that extremely vintage vibe on would-be harsh sources. Perfect for rounding out tone.

What We Think

"Absolutely killer microphones for your money - the ADK Custom Shop Custom TC gives you your choice of capsule voicing so you can match it to your needs. Though it is ADK's most affordable of their Class-A Valve Custom Shop offerings, it's no slouch - and it includes a full bevy of top-flight accessories! There is nothing not to like about these microphones and there's a 'flavor' available which will match perfectly with your voice, if you're a vocalist. For the studio owner, the Custom TC line gives you a relatively inexpensive way to get one of each to accommodate any voice which comes through your studio door. And if you're looking for a matched pair for drum overheads (a really good idea for this, by the way, is the Custom TC-12), just let us know and we can make it happen for you."

ADK Custom Shop TC 67-Au March 24, 2015
Reviewer: Jesse from NJ United States
This review is for the custom shop with the 67 capsule.

I really love this microphone!  I am a home studio owner and I usually pair this microphone with my A-Designs P1 preamp and it's just beautiful for vocals and acoustic guitar  It has a very warm sound with tons of clarity and a present but non-abrasive high end.  Sonically it's just as ADK/Front End Audio advertises and exactly what I was looking for!  I haven't tried it on many other sources yet but I have faith it wouldn't disappoint.

It comes with all the accessories you need although I'm not a fan of the pop filter but I just use one I already own.  I got this mic on one of Front End Audio's amazing sales so for the price I'm more than satisfied.  I also own some of ADK's less expensive microphones and they are also a steal at the price point.

Great Mic. November 3, 2013
Reviewer: Chad Nedohin from Edmonton, AB Canada
I just received my TC-AU-251 from Front End Audio last night.

First off, I was amazed by the shear amount of accessories that were included (and teh beautiful case). First Class!

Second, I set it up, and plugged it straight into my Presonus 16.4.2 board (No fancy preamps to help it).

I was a little dissapointed at first sing... but 20 minutes later, the tube warmed up and the sound really came to life.

I shut off all my typical eqs, compressors, and reverbs. The basic mic signal from this unit was the best I've ever heard (even compared to some heavy hitters). This Mic particularly excels on female altos.

If you want a truely GREAT mic at a reasonable price, the TC-au251 is it.

Great Mic - Awesome staff! October 31, 2013
Reviewer: Blaine Barnett from Oceanside, CA United States
It was time to upgrade my home studio vocal mic. I had been using a Rode NTK for a couple of years and was looking for a quality mic that would smooth out my sibilance problem. I had upgraded my mic pre to a BAE 1073 which helped but I still found myself doing sibilance editing. After much research I decided on the ADK TC-Au series but was not sure which model. I spoke with Alan at Front End Audio and he arranged to send me both the 251 and the 47 to demo. I had been leaning towards the 251 but after explaining to Alan my sibilance issue he suggested the 47. I'm glad I took his advice because the ADK TC-Au 47 was a perfect fit for me. The mic smoothed out all my sibilance problems and sounds awesome. Larry at ADK was kind enough to answer a few questions for me and Alan at Front End Audio was a true professional. He also had the best pricing I could find. I couldn't be happier!
Thanks again...
