    Great Character Mic
    Garrett Sale

I bought this mic becuase i thought it sounded interesting with the hump in the mids and smoothed highs. All the hype about it on drum overheads is spot on, I have used as it a mono drum overhead and it is full, detailed, and never harsh on cymbals. I also really like it on acoustic guitar, its actually becoming my favorite acoustic guitar mic because you can literally set it up 3 ft away from the player and it stills grabs a fully balanced sound. I would not recommend this microphone if you are looking for a vocal mic or if its going to be your main condenser because it is definitely a character mic. The dragonfly could be a cool vocal mic, but because of the push in the mid range, i have to be almost 2 feet away or my vocal will be pretty boomy. it may suit other voices better. All in all, i love this mic for what it does. It sounds exactly the way they say it will.

    Blue Character Mic
    DH

I bought the a 'B - Stock' model of this mic a few months ago and my thoughts on it are generally very positive. Like all Blue Mics it has a certain character which works on some things, less so on others. Personally i think this mic is a great one to have in the tool kit. I really like it on any acoustic instrument and any duties that won't require pushed mids come mix time. It sounds like it somewhat extended highs and lows which is probably why it's not my first choice on vocal duties (Although youtube a Fiona Apple video where she uses it so what do i know). I find it complements say a blueberry on vox and the dragonfly on acoustic guitar. I use the unit with a grace 101 and great river MEV-1 and find it works equally well with both pre's. Don't hesitate to add one to your mic locker. Its not the holy grail but man it is a very nice addition to anyones setup :) - Also it looks cool so chicks dig it.
